Dharwad: Mysuru Rangayana will stage ‘Parva’, a mega drama based on novelist S L Bhyrappa’s novel of the same name, at
Srujana auditorium here on April 12 and 13.
Mysuru Rangayana director Addanda Karyappa told reporters here on Wednesday that ‘Parva’ is an internationally acclaimed novel that depicts in detail the incidents that unfolded during Mahabharata war.
The novel is being translated into many other foreign languages. It has been translated into Russian and Mandarin languages.
Actor-director Prakash Belawadi has adapted the 600-page novel into a drama.
A team of 50 people, including artistes and technicians, has worked for the drama and it has already seen 20 shows, Karyappa said, adding the department of Kannada and culture has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for the preparation of the drama, of which Rs 38 lakh has been paid as remuneration to artistes.
The drama will be staged in all districts of Karnataka and five places in the country. In Dharwad, the eight-hour play will commence at 10.30am, and will have four intervals, including a 30-minute break for lunch and three 10-minute break for tea.
