Kalaburagi: A 17-year-old pre-university student was allegedly kidnapped in Kalaburagi on Saturday. The victim, Santhosh Chavan, a resident of Manikeshwari Colony, was en route to his tutorial centre in Rajapur in Kalaburagi city, when he was reportedly abducted by individuals, who are yet to be identified.
The kidnappers reportedly called Santhosh’s father Ramesh, informing him that his son had been abducted.

In his complaint, Ramesh said that the kidnappers had placed no demand, adding that the number from which he had received the call remained out of reach.
Santhosh had reportedly purchased a bicycle from his friend for Rs 3,000. It has been alleged that the bicycle he bought was stolen. Since Santhosh had been spotted riding the bicycle, the original owner of the cycle reportedly tried to reclaim it. The issue was promptly escalated to the college principal, who appealed to all parties involved to stay calm.
Santhosh’s father suspects that the former has been abducted by the bicycle’s original owner, since the incident had occurred two days after the meeting in the principal’s office. Gulbarga University police have registered a case of kidnapping, and an investigation into the same is under way.
