Property row: Man gets killed by son from 2nd wife

Gadag: A 23-year-old man allegedly murdered his 60-year-old father in an inebriated state following a quarrel over property in Gadag district. The deceased is Shankargouda Kubergouda Dyavanagoudra, a resident of Govanal village in Laxmeshwar taluk. Villagers said the accused, Prabhu Shankargouda Dyavanagoudra, is born to Shankargouda's second wife. "There was a quarrel between father and son over two acres of land. Prabhu picked a fight on the same issue on Friday night and assaulted Shankargouda, and the latter collapsed on the spot," they added. It is learnt that Shankargouda was jailed for a few years for murdering his first wife. Laxmeshwar police, who registered a case, said the accused surrendered himself at the station, and further probe is on. Gadag SP Rohan Jagadeesh visited the spot.
