Prakash Ambedkar, Teesta, Mander in May Sahitya Mela

Vijayapura: The 9th edition of the May Sahitya Mela is being organised in Vijayapura on May 27 and 28. This time Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of Dr BR Ambedkar, journalist and activist Teesta Setalvad, and bureaucrat turned author Harsha Mander will present a keynote address at the Mela, which has the theme ‘Indian Democracy: Challenges, and How to Overcome’. Basavaraj Sulibhavi, one of organisers, told TOI that this time six commoners will inaugurate the event on Saturday morning. Pooja Singh, who took her marriage vows with the Indian Constitution, will read the preamble of the Constitution during the event inaugural ceremony,” he said. Dr HS Anupama, organiser, said that many thought-provoking books will be released at the event. Purushottama Bilimale, former faculty of JNU Delhi, HG Jayalaxmi and A Narayan will deliver lectures. About 20 organisations have joined hands for the event, organisers said. TNN
