Praja Vedike demands action against 16 govt officials including policemen

carried out huge procession here on Saturday and submitted memorandum to DC N Jayaram and SP Ravikanthe Gowda seeking action against 16 government employees including Raibag police officials for their alleged involvement in creating fake documents to favour the party to deceive insurance company.



According to police records, Bhimappa Kamble of excise enforcement and lottery prohibition wing had died on October 30, 2012 in an accident with tractor while he was driving bike. Police records also said the said tractor is owned by Mahaning Irappa Dodadannavar of Gudas village in Hukkeri taluk. The family of deceased has received insurance claim of Rs 25, 26, 176 based on these documents from IFFCO TOKIO GIC Ltd.

Twist in the matter came when the tractor owner refused to admit the involvement of his tractor in the accident. Praja Vedike claimed with the original documents that on the day accident occurred, the tractor was in Ghataprabha Sugar factory in Gokak. Vedike presented the receipts of the sugarcane loaded entry of the tractor into sugar factory gate.

Tractor owner Mahaling Dodadannavar said to the reporters that Raibag police named his tractor in the case without any concern. He came to know about it only when he received summons of the Raibag court. "When I approached police station, officers tried to make compromise which I rejected. Afterwards, police harassed me in different ways" Mahaling said seeking the justice. Responding to agitators, SP Ravikanthe Gowda assured of detailed investigation in the case.
