Belagavi: Residents of Belagavi are demanding a daily train to Mysuru. They rue that despite Belagavi being a huge district, it does not have a daily train to Mysuru.
As Mysuru has become a hub of IT& BT, hundreds of students and job seekers travel to Mysuru. The Hazarth Nizamuddin Svarna Jayanti Expressto Mysuru runs only for three days of the week and it is not sufficient, they say. Several passengers are also unhappy with the timing of the train. The train departs Belagavi every Tuesday at 2:25pm and reaches Mysuru at 2:15am on Wednesday, an uncomfortable time for passengers.
Belagavi is famous for grape cultivation and dairy products. Those who supply grapes and dairy products to Mysuru are demanding that the daily train must be run at a comfortable time. They also complain that the existing train runs via Bengaluru, due to which the journey time is longer. Babusheb Desai, a merchant, told TOI, “A daily Belagavi – Mysuru train will also help the people of Hubballi, Dharwad and Davanagere too.”
