No private hospital in Haveri has booster dose

Haveri: Covid-19 booster doses are unavailable in private hospitals in Haveri district three months after its launch, although the central government has allowed the doses to be given from such facilities for a fee to anyone between 18 and 60 years of age.
Haveri residents have received messages alerting them to get the booster dose, but private hospitals have not shown interest in starting vaccine counters for the booster doses.
“I received an alert message two months ago to take the booster dose. When I contacted local officers in the health department, they were still waiting for guidelines. Someone said private hospitals are administering booster doses, but no private hospital has opened a vaccination counter in Haveri district,” Sampath Deshpande, a resident of Ranebennur, said.
Some private hospital managements have participated in a virtual meeting with health minister Dr K Sudhakar regarding the booster doses. The district administration is also persuading a private hospital to start the vaccination. But no hospital has opened vaccine counters.
This has become a worry for the administration as a fourth wave of Covid-19 is predicted in June.
