Nissar, Pattanashetti to get Ambikatanayadatta Award

and

Siddalinga Pattanashetti

have been selected for the Dr Da Ra Bendre National Memorial Trust’s Ambikatanayadatta National Award for 2018.

The award carries Rs 1 lakh and citation, said chairman of the Trust D M Hiremath. The cash component of the award will be shared by the two writers.

Poet Doddarange Gowda will present the award at Bendre Bhavan, Sadhanakeri, Dharwad at 5.30pm on January 31, which happens to be the 124th birth anniversary of the Jnanpith awardee poet laureate Da Ra Bendre.

A review of literary works of Nissar, Pattanashetti and other writers will precede the award presentation ceremony.

Rajshekhar Mathapati, member of

Sahitya Akademi

, will review the works of Nissar, while former vice-chancellor Iqbal Ahmad will review works of Pattanashetti.

Earlier, the Trust was presenting the annual award to one literary personality in recognition of contributions to the field of

Kannada literature

. The practice of choosing more than one writer for the award started two years ago.
