Hubballi: Despite the lingering threat of Covid-19, people in the city are gearing up for grand New Year celebrations. Many hotels are planning memorable events with unique themes, ensuring comprehensive safety measures for attendees.Some hotels have also decided not to hold any grand events following covid threats and strict guidelines issued by the city police. As per the city police, there will be no music event after 10 pm and all celebrations must come to an end by 12 pm.To keep up the tradition of welcoming the New Year grandly, some hotels in the city have planned some events to make it a memorable one.Mahantesh Kulkarni, sales manager of The Fern Residency, Hubballi told TOI that they are organising a duet music event and professional singers from Kolhapur and other places are participating in the New Year celebration. “We are also offering a gala dinner at an affordable cost for both couples and stags,” he added.Arun Savadatti, manager of Denissons Hubballi said they are offering sumptuous food with live music events adhering to the conditions laid down by the police department and the government to curb the spread of covid.Rajeshkumar Jha, Mayur Aaditya resort, Dharwad said: “We are organising a big music event wherein professional singers will perform on December 31 as part of the New Year celebration. Artists from Bengaluru and locals will participate in the event. Besides, we are also holding a DJ event to entertain customers along with unlimited food and beverages. We have already installed enough CCTVs and are also implementing other safety measures suggested by the police. We have restricted the crowd to 400 only to maintain social distance to prevent the spread of covid,” he added.Ajay Handa from Hans Hotel said, “We had earlier planned to conduct DJ Nite, family gatherings and music events to mark New Year celebrations, but we had to cancel all those events following new guidelines issued by the police department. We are now holding normal activities along with food as per the deadline set by the police guidelines,” he said.Many hoteliers said they are keeping the celebrations low-key following strict guidelines and we are just offering unlimited food and music with some games for children and families to wrap up the celebration by midnight, said hoteliers.Police commissioner Renuka Sukumar said they have strictly instructed the hoteliers to end the music events by 10 pm and wrap up all activities by midnight. “We will give an additional 30 minutes to avoid inconvenience to people attending celebrations. All hotels must stick to the timings as per their licenses and a 30-minute extension will be given to all hotels to wrap up their day’s activities during the New Year celebrations on December 31 in Hubballi and Dharwad,” she said.
