More leaders to quit Congress in Dharwad district

: The resignation of Dr Mahesh Nalwad from is just the beginning of an exodus from the Congress with many more from the district likely to quit the party in the next few days, according to a senior leader.

, 8-10 former councilors are set to bid goodbye to the Congress. Speaking to STOI from New Delhi, Chinchore admitted that all is not well in the Congress and a batch of ex-corporators is ready to quit the party.

“We have been working for the party since the past 20-25 years and kept its flag flying facing all odds. However, the party leadership has no respect for dedicated

workers

and only those who pester and pamper the leaders are favoured with positions and power. All our pro-people struggles during my tenure as a corporator helped the party win seats in the

HDMC elections

. But the party leaders ignored our contributions. I was denied my due share of opportunities in the party several times and was discriminated against on caste considerations,” Chinchore alleged.

Sources said the disgruntled party workers are in touch with former minister
