Mega job fair launched in Ballari; over 6k candidates register
Ballari: A mega job fair was inaugurated in Ballari on Wednesday, with leaders asserting the state govt's strong commitment to supporting employment seekers. Speaking at the launch, Mundargi Nagaraj, chairman of the Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation Limited, said the state govt stands firmly with job aspirants. More than 60 companies participated in the event, and over 6,000 candidates registered.The employment mela was organised jointly by the district administration, zilla panchayat, the department of skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood, Sanjeevini–Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Mission, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), and Smt Saraladevi Satishchandra Agarwal Govt First Grade College (autonomous), Ballari, where the event was held.
Nagaraj stated that the process of filling govt posts was earlier delayed due to the implementation of internal reservation. However, following a cabinet decision, the govt will soon initiate recruitment to fill over 52,000 govt vacancies.Ballari mayor P Gadeppa praised the district administration for organising the fair in an industrial hub like Ballari, while DIG of police PS Harsha stressed that job fairs are essential to address unemployment in the region.Zilla panchayat CEO Mohammed Haris Sumer said the job fair bridges the gap between companies and talented graduates and diploma holders. He emphasised the importance of acquiring skills in areas such as Python, Java, data science, and AI-ML, along with confidence and practical exposure through internships.Profiles of candidates will be digitised and shared with regional authorities for further opportunities. Appointment orders were distributed on the spot to selected candidates.The event also featured QR code-based registration and stalls by women's self-help groups showcasing their products.
