Man gets 20-year jail for raping minor daughter

Vijayapura: A special Pocso court convicted a person for raping his 5-year-old daughter and sentenced him to 20 years' life imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 50,000. A person from a village in Chadachan taluk took his 5-year-old girl, saying he would show Ganesh idols set up on account of Ganesh Chaturthi on Aug 30, 2025. Following resentment with his wife, he took the toddler to a deserted area of Alakunte Nagar in Vijayapura in the evening and raped her. His wife filed a complaint with Vijayapura women's police station. Sindhu Potadar, judge of the Special Pocso court, who tried the case, reviewed the evidence and issued the conviction order. The chargesheet was filed by police officials Jayavant Dulari, RA Dinni, and PY Ambiger. Special prosecutor VG Hagaragonda represented the govt in court.
