LPG shortage drives surge in PNG demand in Belagavi
Belagavi: Demand for PNG (pipeline natural gas) connections has increased in Belagavi due to a shortage of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders, reportedly triggered by the war in the Middle East. The PNG project was implemented in Belagavi district in 2017. Under the first phase, the target was to provide 50,000 PNG connections, but only about 34,000 connections were achieved. With the ongoing LPG shortage, residents across Belagavi city and other parts of the district are now showing renewed interest in obtaining PNG connections. The central govt implemented the PNG scheme with the aim of supplying natural gas through pipelines to households. The PNG network area is located in a few wards of Belagavi City Corporation (BCC). Work is in progress at most places.
