Land conversion process will be easy
DHARWAD: The process of land use conversion from agriculture to non-agriculture in the district will be a simple affair henceforth. Thanks to DC Darpan Jain's initiative, the process will be fast and transparent. The applicants can get their files disposed of within 30 days.
The number of documents supplied with the application has also been reduced considerably.

The applicants need not approach any officer for the records of rights and no-objection certificates. They can obtain them directly from Nemmadi Kendras.
Jain said the land cases are dealt under Section 95 of Karnataka Land Revenue Act (1964) and the section provides for granting the conversion of land use within 45 days. However the present method, besides causing undue delay, involved many irrelevant documents. The system did not provide any means to for the applicants to know the current status of their application.
It's proposed to re-engineer the process to make it simple. The decision _ on whether to convert the land or not __ will be taken on the spot in the presence of the applicant.
PROCESS IS EASIER, FASTER
According to the new plan, the applications from Hubli and Dharwad taluks will be collected at a counter established at the DC's office, instead of the tahasildar's office. For other three taluks, the applications will be collected at their respective tahsildar's office.
The application should be accompanied by latest record of right, certificate showing the latest mutation, consent from joint owners, rough map and an affidavit. The details of the applications would be entered into a computer and the application will be scrutinized with regard to checklist or the documents required. The applicant would be given an endorsement for receiving the application indicating the date and time at which the decision would be taken on the application.

Jain said the applications received during a week would be placed for consideration/ final decision at an open session on September 25 at 11 am.
After the decision is given on the spot, the applicant will get two weeks time to pay the conversion fine. Conversion will be granted immediately after the applicant pays the fine.
"We propose to dispose of all the applications received within 30 days as against the outer limit of 45 days prescribed in the Act," he said. In order to enable the applicant to know the current status of his/ her application, the applications will be entered into a system and would be uploaded on www.dharwad.nic.in.
