Belagavi: The Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) has moved forward with plans to implement a new residential scheme in Honnihal village, around 18 km from the city, on around 92 acres and 7 gunta of land. In this regard, the proposal has been moved to the govt, and public notification will be issued once the project is approved.
Devaraj Urs Colony is the last residential layout developed by the KHB at Basavan Kudachi almost a decade ago. The new project is aimed at addressing the city's growing housing demand, providing affordable housing and improving infrastructure for the public.
For the new residential project, the KHB has identified land in Survey Nos. 43/1 to 43/6 in Honnihal village. The affected landowners will receive compensation, along with rehabilitation and resettlement benefits, in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
Once the govt approves the project, it will take almost 5-6 months for the KHB to issue the public notification inviting objections and suggestions from the stakeholders, an official in the KHB office in Belagavi told TOI.
The KHB has emphasised that the acquisition process will be carried out transparently and in compliance with legal provisions, including Section 11(1) of the 2013 Act.
