DHARWAD: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly hacked his younger sister to death at their house near Venkateshwar Temple in
Navalgund
town on Tuesday.
Police said the accused,
Mahantesh
Sharannappanavar, attacked his sister
Shashikala Pathak
with a lethal weapon, killing her on the spot. After the incident, Mahantesh surrendered before police and confessed the crime.
Shashikala was married a few years ago to a man from
Aralikatti
in Hubballi taluk. Unfortunately, he died, and
Shashikala returned to Navalgund and started working as an assistant at an anganwadi. A few days ago, Shashikala got married to Ravi Pathak of Navalgund and was staying at his house, much to the chagrin of Mahantesh who had opposed their alliance.
On Tuesday, Mahantesh reportedly barged into their house and threw chilli powder on her face before fatally attacking her with a lethal weapon.
