State govt lacks funds to purchase quality medicines, alleges Joshi
Hubballi: The state govt is bankrupt both financially and intellectually, and there is no money to buy quality medicines. Hence, it is purchasing from companies that are supplying substandard medicines, alleged Union minister Pralhad Joshi.Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Joshi expressed anger, stating that medicines are unavailable in govt hospitals, and doctors are writing notes for patients to get them from outside. "Health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao seems to have realised the seriousness and sensitivity of the issue too late. In the case of the deaths of mothers in Ballari, the health minister completely failed. He is pointing fingers at the Union govt to cover up his mistakes," he alleged. The Union govt approved the IV fluids, but who is responsible if quality medicines are replaced with substandard ones after approval? Shouldn't the state govt conduct inspections regularly?, he questioned. They are blaming the Union govt for the deaths of five mothers in the state. Their mindset seems to blame the Centre even for rain or population increase. This is not right, he criticised. The death of mothers in the era of advanced medical science in the 21st century is shameful. The state govt should be ashamed for not considering it seriously, Joshi criticised.
