Handing over Hassan seat, Deve Gowda weeps, son and grandson follow suit
HASSAN:
Rolling out Prajwal’s campaign from Moodalahippe in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, Gowda fought hard to hold back tears as he remembered his early days in politics and announced that he was vacating the seat forever. He said from now on, Prajwal will continue to take care of the seat.
The emotion spilled over with Prajwal, his father and PWD minister HD Revanna, and mother Bhavani also breaking down. Revanna even asked Gowda to consider contesting from Hassan again, but the JD(S) patriarch refused saying his age does not allow him to be active in politics.
The crowd shouted slogans in favour of Gowda and asked him to be strong even as Gowda explained the recent political developments in the state and attacked Congress leaders, including former CM Siddaramaiah. The septuagenarian said rivals are hurling questions on him promoting family members in politics.
