BELGUAM: Chief minister Jagadish Shettar said here on Sunday that the unilateral order of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the state to release 9,000 cusecs Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu has done great injustice to the state.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Shettar said he did every effort to convince the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) headed by the PM about the facts.

All issues including requirement of water for standing crops and drinking purpose, besides 49 drought affected taluks in Cauvery basin were discussed. "I have a written copy about what we explained to CRA" CM said.
"We requested the PM for sending an experts' team before making any order. But our request wasn't heard. We have also approached ministers in the Centre from the state and provided the documents. But nothing has come to our rescue. After filing the review petition in Supreme Court, the CRA has now sent the experts team to the state," he rued.
Meanwhile, Shettar defended the state's legal team headed by Fali S Nariman saying that, Nariman is like a walking institute, since he has been looking after the Cauvery case since the last 35 years. "I hope he will bring justice to the state in the coming days," he said.
