Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation to acquire 15 mini trucks to improve garbage management

According to the environmental engineering department of HDMC, the demand for the big capacity trucks was long pending one. Santosh Kumar environment engineer of the HDMC said since the tractor-trailer holds less garbage they used to make more trips to dumping yard. The 4.5-ton capacity trucks would collect more garbage from bulk waste generating units at one go. The mini trucks can be used in interior parts of the city to collect the garbage, he said.
The HDMC as of now has 176 mini auto tippers to collect the garbage from door to door and there are complaints that the vehicles miss routines as big wards have less sufficient vehicles to collect garbage. These new vehicles can be used in big wards if required, the engineer said.

Officials of HDMC say the HDMC has big jetting machines most of the times the control room receives drainage block complaints from interior areas where the roads will be very narrow. The cleaning staff used to using the bigger pipes and sometimes it was not helpful to clean the block. The new jetting machines will reach the narrow lanes and clear the blockage of underground drainages, they said.
