Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) is planning to relaunch the musical fountain at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Hubballi, to attract larger crowd of tourists, similar to the musical fountains at Brindavan Garden in Mysuru.
The fountain, redeveloped at a cost of over Rs 4 crore under the Smart City project, originally drew an overwhelming response, but visitor numbers have since declined for the 30-minute show. To revive interest, the HDMC will introduce additional songs and activities and will approach educational institutions and other groups to boost footfall.
The revamped musical fountain promises to be a spectacle, incorporating additional songs and activities to captivate audiences. The HDMC plans to collaborate with educational institutions and other organisations to boost its popularity and increase footfall.
The fountain is a technological marvel, featuring an LED laser show and a 3D audio-visual experience projected onto a water curtain. This is achieved using 150 nozzles and 18 aesthetically pleasing water jet designs, all controlled by advanced DMX systems.
The amphitheatre, with seating for over 300 people, provides a comfortable viewing experience, ensuring that visitors can fully immerse themselves in the show. HDMC's efforts to revitalise the fountain, are not just about entertainment; they are also about fostering community engagement and promoting tourism in the region.
According to sources, HDMC outsourced operation and maintenance to an agency, which found it difficult to generate revenue due to poor footfall. Looking at this, Ghali and other HDMC officials are planning to promote the musical fountain and other activities in ten MG Park.
By drawing inspiration from Brindavan Garden, HDMC aims to create a tourist attraction that will not only entertain but also educate and inspire. The relaunch of the musical fountain is a testament to the city's commitment to innovation and cultural enrichment. As the HDMC prepares to unveil this enhanced attraction, it hopes to see a resurgence in visitor numbers, turning Mahatma Gandhi Park into a vibrant hub of activity and a must-visit destination for both residents and tourists alike.
HDMC commissioner Rudresh Ghali said the corporation planned to relaunch the musical fountain at MG Park with increased show time and added songs to boost footfall among locals and tourists. He said HDMC was also planning to approach govt and private education institutions to arrange school visits as well.
