The ceremony recognised 3 notable individuals with honorary doctorates for their remarkable contributions to social and political service, while celebrating the outstanding achievements of students across disciplines.The event, held at Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavan at the Jnana Ganga campus, saw Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot confer honorary doctorates on former minister PGR Sindhya for political and social contributions, former minister Murugesh Nirani for social service, and activist Kedara Lingayya Hiremath for his dedication to social causes.The ceremony was attended by the higher education minister and chancellor of the University Dr MC Sudhakar, along with vice-chancellor Prof Shashikanth S Udikeri and retired vice-chancellor of Pune's Deemed University of Advanced Defense Technology, Prof LM Patnaik. Thousands of students, faculty, and guests attended the event.A highlight of the convocation was the recognition of 77 students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance, earning a total of 172 gold medals.
Kannada studies student Channamma stole the spotlight by securing 11 gold medals, earning the affectionate title of "Golden Girl".Other notable achievers included Rahul from the Zoology department with 9 medals, MBA student Surekha with 8, Shamim Rafat from Political Science with 6, Deepa from Social Work with 6, Subiya Nurain from Computer Science with 5, Priyanka Rathod from Chemistry with 5, Shashikumar from Biochemistry with 5, and Preeti G Khemkar from Gurukul Degree College in BCom with 5 medals.The convocation also marked the award of PhD degrees to 123 research scholars across various faculties. The faculty of arts conferred degrees on 30 candidates, social sciences on 26, science and technology on 47, commerce and management on 9, education on 7, and Law on 4. Among these scholars, 62 were men and 61 were women.The convocation concluded with a message emphasising the importance of research, dedication, and service to society, leaving students, faculty, and attendees motivated and proud of their institution.
