Govt to fill 56k new posts, job fairs to connect youth with employers: Min
Caption: Job seekers throng Karnatak College ground in Dharwad on Tuesday to register their names at the Udyog MelaDharwad: In a major employment push, the state govt has decided to fill 56,000 new posts, incorporating the recruitment process into the state Budget, district minister Santosh Lad said on Tuesday. He said the move reflects the govt's firm resolve to tackle unemployment while simultaneously organising job fairs across all districts to connect youth with prospective employers.
The minister was speaking after inaugurating the district-level job fair at the Karnataka College premises. The event was organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, District Skill Mission, department of skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood, and Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Society.Lad said the job fair in Dharwad district has witnessed a positive response from unemployed and aspiring young youth. He added that such job fairs would be organised once every three months at the district level to ensure sustained employment facilitation."We will collect feedback from candidates attending the job fair and take necessary follow-up action. Instructions have already been issued to the skill development department in this regard," he said.Reiterating the govt's commitment to employment generation, the minister said that more than 40,000 jobs had already been provided. "The primary objective of job fairs is to provide a direct platform for job seekers to interact with employers," he said.Appealing to the youth to make use of the opportunities being created, Lad emphasised that the govt is continuously working to reduce unemployment across the state.
