HUBBALLI: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party will field its candidates in the upcoming assembly elections in Dharwad. Applications are invited from ticket aspirants who have engaged in social work, said AIMIM general secretary Lathief Khan Pathan.
Pathan told reporters on Monday that AIMIM state president has announced that the party will field around 100 candidates in the 2023 assembly elections.
“Along with our party, the search for suitable candidates is going on in winnable areas. AIMIM has already won three seats in the HDMC election. In this direction, our candidates are being fielded in seven assembly segments of the district. Interested candidates can apply to the party’s district president and district general secretary,” he added.
“In AIMIM, none will take or give money for a ticket. But aspirants should be in public work and should have good character. He or she should not have any criminal background and they should abide by party rules. The constituency-wise list of aspirants will be sent to the national president, who will take the final decision” he said.
Denying allegations that AIMIM was BJP’s B-team, he said Congress is portraying it that way. “But our party has its own set of principles based on which it organises itself. Some people are trying to twist it,” he said.
