DHARWAD: RDPR minister
Jagadish Shettar said the government will provide necessary funds to create infrastructure for sports activities in needy and deserving towns.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for a stadium at Alnavar in Dharwad district, he said rural youth should use the facilities properly to hone their talent and earn success in top competitions.
The stadium, coming up at a cost of Rs 75 lakh, is being jointly funded by Zilla Panchayat, district administration, and the department of youth services and sports.
MP Pralhad Joshi said creation of infrastructure for sports in small towns and interior places should help rural sportspersons train well and succeed. MLAs Santosh Lad and chairman of Karnatak State Border Area Development Authority Chandrakant Bellad also spoke.
