Former MLA condemns allegations against seer

Pic: Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya SwamijiDavanagere: JD(S) former MLA HS Shivashankar held a press conference in Davanagere and said, "There is a conspiracy against Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swamiji of Lingayat Panchamasali Peeta." He also stated he condemns the allegations made against the seer.He said politicians at the top, activists and officials were being targeted through honeytraps, and that many were living in fear that their honour and reputation would be tarnished. He said some committed suicide out of fear and relinquished their positions, and alleged there was a scheme to trap deserving and good people for money. Shivashankar said such cases should be taken seriously, and action must be taken. "Similarly, Kudalasangama Sri has been defamed by people from Bengaluru," and alleged, "Those who filed complaints with the Women's Commission are missing and cannot be found," he added.He further said the police must immediately find them and bring out the truth. Baseless accusations were made against seers on YouTube channels, he alleged. Our own community members are unable to tolerate the prominence of seers and are doing this. Those accusing seers should provide evidence and file a complaint. Instead, they are engaging in defamation. Action must be taken against the gangs involved in honeytraps and blackmail," he criticised.He said the woman accusing the seer mentioned Bengaluru at one point and Vijayapura at another. "We trust that the police department will not let the accused escape. I appeal to the chairperson of the women's commission to act promptly upon receiving complaints. Those who filed the complaint should be called, and the case should be registered with evidence to uncover the truth," Shivashankar urged.
