Five persons were killed and nine others injured when a car collided with a maxi cab near Tikota on Monday evening.

BIJAPUR: Five persons were killed and nine others injured when a car collided with a maxi cab near Tikota on Monday evening.
All those died were travelling in the car: Kumar Ramagonda Kallappagol (35), Kalagond Ramagond Muddappagol (45), Sumitra Kalagond (40), Akkatayee Ramagond Muddappagol (30), and they are from the same family in Chinchani village in Chikkodi taluk of Belgaum district.

They all died on the spot while car cleaner Lakshman Bhajantri (28) of Kanamadi village died in the hospital. Malagond Annappa Chikkale (35), who was also travelling in the same vehicle, survived the accident. He, along with maxi cab driver Ashok Shinge of Kanamadi village and seven others, is being treated at the district hospital. The condition of four persons is said to be serious.
The accident took place while the car-bourne pilgrims were going from Basavana Bagewadi to Guddapur to seek the blessings of Danamma Devi. The cab, carrying 12 persons, was travelling from Tikota to Bijapur.
SP K V Shridhar, additional SP F A Trasger, DSP Khot and other senior officials visited the spot. Tikota police have registered a case.
