FIR against Araga for controversial remark

Kalaburagi/Shivamogga: An FIR was registered against former home minister Araga Jnanendra in Kalaburagi on Thursday for his controversial statement against AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s complexion. The action was taken following a complaint filed by ex-corporator Rajiv Jaane at Ashok Nagar police station. Priyank tweets“It is your mind that has been darkened, not the people of Kalyan Karnataka,” tweeted RDPR and Kalaburagi district minister Priyank Kharge. This was in reply to Araga Jnanendra’s controversial statement on Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s complexion. “The skin of those who have been exploiting for centuries in the name of Varnashram consuming the sweat of the toilers may be white, but the skin of those who work hard and eat the food earned with self-respect is burnt in the sun. If Araga Gyanendra carries mud even for one day, his complexion will turn dark,” he chided.“Such words show that the BJP, which embraces Manusmriti's Varnashram, is disgruntled with the political prosperity of Dalits. This attitude will destroy the BJP itself, because this is not the era of Manusmriti, but the era of Babasaheb's constitution,” Priyank declared.Congress activists protested in Shivamogga on Thursday against the former minister, accusing him of insulting the AICC chief. They accused him of resorting to racism and petitioned Shivamogga district police to take legal action. Meanwhile, Araga Jnanendra apologised for his controversial comments.
