Fear dominating lives in Bidar, alleges Bhagwanth Khuba
Bidar: Bhagwanth Khuba, a former Union minister and BJP leader, accused Eshwar B Khandre, the minister in charge of Bidar district, on Tuesday of engaging in a politics of hatred. He alleged that Khandre is fostering a climate of fear in the district by filing false cases against leaders from various social groups and organisations and is plotting to have them deported from the district. Khuba mentioned that he reached out to Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, chief minister Siddaramaiah, and home minister G Parameshwara regarding this matter."The same atmosphere of suffering and fear that the citizens of the country faced during the Emergency in 1975 has been recreated in Bidar district today. For the past two years, lawlessness has prevailed in the district. There are daylight murders, extortion, and involvement in illegal activities such as gambling, bio-diesel sales, and rice smuggling, with these individuals being shielded," Khuba alleged."If anyone speaks out against these issues or protests, they face a barrage of false cases filed against them within 100 days, old cases are resurrected, and local police are summoned to intimidate them. They are often called to the police station in the dead of night or suddenly taken away in a police vehicle," he claimed."If you are not intimidated by these coercive tactics, then under Eshwar Khandre's influence, police are fabricating false reports and issuing deportation notices to individuals. In some instances, even those who were once close to Khandre are implicated. Many individuals who received deportation notices shared their distress with me," Bhagwant Khuba stated.Among his other accusations is that when thefts take place in the district, the media is restricted from reporting; in the incident involving the shootout, although Rs 90 lakh was stolen, the suspects have not yet been located. Instead of performing their responsibilities, the police are swiftly moving to deport those identified by the minister in charge; consequently, social activists find it difficult to hold their heads high in society.Bhagwant Khuba called on the minister to cease Eshwar Khandre's hate-driven politics, re-evaluate the deportation cases, and put a stop to all illegal activities occurring in the district.
