Hubballi: Police commissioner N Shashikumar issued a dry order in the wake of Holi celebration in the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad, from March 3 to 7, for the safety and security of the public and to maintain law and order.He said in his order that, under the powers granted by the Karnataka Excise Act 1965 Section 21(1) and the Karnataka Police Act 1963 Section 31, the order was issued as a precautionary measure. In Dharwad city, from midnight on March 3 to 6am on March 5, and in Hubballi city from midnight on March 6 to 6am on March 8, the sale, consumption, and transportation of liquor are prohibited in liquor shops, bars, clubs, and hotels. Liquor shops, KSBC depot bars, excise-licensed hotels, and shops must also be shut and sealed. Additionally, to maintain public peace according to the situation, the area excise inspectors and sub-division excise superintendents are ordered to take appropriate action.

"Deputy commissioners of excise, Dharwad, and deputy commissioners of police (law and order), Hubballi-Dharwad, along with their subordinate officers, additional excise superintendents, Dharwad, and the excise deputy superintendents, Hubballi, must ensure the effective implementation of this order in their jurisdictions," he added.
