Deadline push: BCC commissioner cracks whip on electoral roll revision
Belagavi: Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) commissioner Kartik M. has instructed election department officials and staff to complete the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voters’ list within the stipulated deadline, as mandated by the Election Commission.
Chairing a review meeting at the BCC on Monday, Kartik assessed progress so far and issued necessary directions. The corporation is divided into north and south divisions, with the commissioner serving as election officer for the South. Revenue division deputy commissioner Siddu Hulloli has been appointed assistant election officer, while administrative division deputy commissioner Udayakumar Talwar is the election officer for the North. Engineer Laxmi Nippanikar will serve as co-election officer.
A total of 514 booth-level officers from both divisions will work under 40 supervisors. Officials said 100% of booth-level officers have been appointed in the North division. Mapping work stands at 72% in the North and 82.6% in the South. Around 90% of the overall target has been achieved, and staff are undergoing the required training. All preliminary preparations have been completed, and work at all levels will commence from June 30.
