HAVERI: The police have succeeded in arresting five motorbike thieves, including the son of District Crime Review Bureau (DCRB) PSI, and recovered six motorbikes from here on Saturday.
Town station CPI M Murugendrayya said that there were many complaints from the public about motorbikes going missing from certain points. "Our constables wore civil dress and kept vigil in those areas.
Chiranjeevi Subhash, one of the gang members, was caught red-handed while attempting to steal a motorbike. On interrogation, he confessed to the crime and named his four accomplices."
The other accused have been identified as Manjunath Pol, son of DCRB PSI Laxman Pol, Vivek Manjunath Doddamani, Vishwanth Wadeyarhalli, all from Haveri, and Panchakshri Kamankatti from Kadashettihalli village of Hangal taluk.
They were later produced before the JMFC court judge. A case has been registered at Haveri town police station.
