BELAGAVI: Members of Karnataka Praja Vedike (KPV) led by advocate Surendra Ugare staged protest in the premises of DC office here on Tuesday, condemning the atrocities of staff members of Beereshwar Cooperative Credit Society for harassing women of Bhoj village in Chikkodi taluk despite repaying loan promptly.
In a memorandum submitted to DC, members said Society had given loan to 35 women for buying buffaloes. Out of these, 20 women have already made repayment of loan while rest 15 are yet to pay some final instalments. However, Society has registered complaint against all 35 women and issued notices asking them for repayment of loan amount. When women went to society office to ask clarification, office staff threatened and insulted them. Advocate Ugare demanded stern action against concerned Society staff.
Women said they have all the records of re-paying loan instalments. But unnecessarily they are being targeted by the Society run by family of Nippani MLA Shashikala Jolle, they alleged.
