DAVANAGERE: Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of ���Chemexcell-2009', a national level students' symposium, organised by the department of Chemical engineering in association with IIPC, ISTE of BIET, Davanagere, Prof B T Achyutha, principal of BIET said chemical engineers are the creators of the world and they are the deciding factors through whom the quality of life of human beings depend.
He called upon the chemical engineers to work for rising the standard of life of human beings. There is an abundant scope and potential for the chemical engineers in the country, he noted. But, because of IT and BT influence, so far, this branch had taken a back seat, he said. However, during this academic year, the scenario will be different, following the recession of IT sector, he contented.
BIET director Prof Y Vrushabhendrappa, A C Jayanna, chairman of BIET governing body, chemical head Prof S Shanmukhappa, spoke on the occasion. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta of IISc, Bangalore inaugurated the event. Over 90 students from 15 engineering colleges of TN, AP and Karnataka attended. Over 30 oral and 60 poster presentations were discussed in the symposium.
