Celebrate exam like a fest: Judge

Dharwad: Principal district and sessions Judge KG Shanti called upon students bracing for annual examinations to shun exam fear and celebrate it like a festival. Speaking at a webinar on preparations for SSLC examination organised jointly by the District Legal Services Authority and department of public instruction here on Thursday, she said students should be prepared well to face exams so that they do not have any tension on the examination day. Apart from revising regularly, students should opt for mock tests to boost their confidence, she said. Students must enjoy reading and not consider exams as a punishment, she said.

Dharwad’s scientist gets intl award

Dr Shivaji Kashinath Jadhav of Dharwad has been selected for the Key Stone and Volkswagen Science Foundation award by the foundation based in Hannover, Germany. The award is for pioneer scientific researchers and scientists around the globe working on infectious diseases, virology and human evolution. Dr Shivaji is the only winner from Asia. He studied at Vidyaranya High School and Vidyaranya PU College, Dharwad and completed MSc in Biotechnology from Karnatak University Dharwad and PhD from the University of Mumbai in virology. He has carried out extensive research on molecular pathogenesis of HIV. Currently, he is a senior molecular scientist and head at Orange Health Infectious Lab, Bengaluru.
