Belagavi: A BJP member of Kittur town panchayat was allegedly kidnapped late on Thursday night, ahead of elections to the president and vice-president posts scheduled for Sept 3. According to the complaint filed by the local BJP functionaries at Kittur police station, Nagesh Asundi, a member of Kittur TP, was abducted while he was standing near the national highway cross.
SP Dr Bhimashankar Guled said an FIR has been registered, and three teams have been formed to trace Nagesh. BJP functionaries on Friday staged a protest in Belagavi and condemning the kidnap. Of the total 20 members of Kittur TP, 10 each are from BJP and Congress. The absence of one member can tilt the result.
KLE Tech and UAS join hands to advance agri through technologyDharwad: KLE Technological University (KLE Tech) and the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UASD) have joined hands to explore integrating advanced technology in agriculture. At a meeting of representatives of both institutions held at Dharwad, UAS vice-chancellor PL Patil emphasised the importance of integrating emerging technologies into modern farming practices. His focus areas included crop monitoring for precision agriculture, biochar production, and the use of predictive analytics to benefit the farming community. Professor VC Patil, former Dean of UAS Dharwad, introduced the Kon-Tiki, an accessible tool for biochar production. Prof B L Desai, executive dean of KLETU underscored the critical role of new technologies in enhancing farm output and reducing the drudgery associated with traditional farming methods. Vice-chancellor of UAS Raichur Professor H Hanamantappa, director of research Prof BD Biradar, director of research and dean at KLE Technological University Prof Meena SM and others were present.
‘Anywhere Registration’ in Dharwad district from Sept 2Dharwad: The ‘Anywhere Registration’ launched by the department of stamps and registration will be introduced in Dharwad district from Sept 2, 2024. Deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu has appealed to the people of the district make use of the facility. She said the govt while presenting the annual budget for 2024-2025 had announced that the ‘Anywhere Registration’ facility will be extended to all the districts. In Dharwad district this facility will be available in seven offices of stamps and registration department. They are Dharwad, Hubballi South, Hubballi North, Annigeri, Kundgol, Kalghatagi and Navalgund. The property owners can register at the office which is convenient for them. DC Divya said the new facility will be helpful to the people seeking to register their properties in many ways. It will enhance transparency and avoid delays in registration. The property owners have a choice to go to the nearest office or where they get the convenient slot. This will also reduce the rush at offices concerned.
