BJP alleges corruption, irregularities at govt event in Haveri
Haveri: Former minister BC Patil criticised the state govt event in Haveri, saying it was not a celebration of 1,000 days but ‘a celebration of a string of lies', and alleged it celebrated corruption over 1,000 days, not development but economic bankruptcy.Speaking at a press conference at BJP's district office on Sunday, he said the state govt should provide ownership documents to those who built houses illegally, cultivated land, or took Bagar Hukum, but alleged ownership documents were given to fake accounts. He said in some villages in Hirekerur taluk, land and property documents were issued in the names of deceased people, and said this should be investigated. He remarked that the arrival of chief minister Siddaramaiah and the entire govt to do the work of local revenue officials, gram panchayat presidents, members, and MLAs was ridiculous. He accused officials of taking money from beneficiaries for issuing property and land documents, collecting at least Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000."In Hanagal taluk, Havangi GP area, five buses were sent to bring 40 people, and school buses were also used," he claimed.Patil said when questioned about this, Haveri DC apologised. He alleged school buses were misused and govt officials, local administrative machinery, school teachers, anganwadi, and ASHA workers were involved in making arrangements for the gathering."The construction work of the Rattihalli guest house was incomplete and the building work was not fully finished, with flooring, ceiling, windows, doors, and painting pending. About 75% of the work remains to be completed, but during the Saturday gathering, chief minister Siddaramaiah hastily inaugurated it due to fear of the govt's collapse," he alleged.QuoteSome of the property documents issued by the Congress govt are under court stay. They caused disputes among families. They are looting public tax money. If the CM has any sense of shame and dignity, he should respond. We will seek information under the Right to Information Act about how many beneficiaries there were and how many buses were used.- Shivaraj Sajjanar, former MLA.
