Belagavi SP, DC conduct phone-in programme
Belagavi: The 13th weekly phone-in programme was held by SP Sanjeev Patil on Saturday, where he heard public grievances over the phone and suggested remedies. This programme became special as DC Nitesh Patil and DCP Shekhar ST joined in as guests and heard grievances. The programme lasted for about five hours and gained a huge response. The officials responded to 51 calls from rural areas, 11 calls from the city and one call from outside the district. The senior officials listened to the public's grievances and responded to them. Quick responses on the spot gained attention.District administration received lot of complaints related to revenue, police and excise departments. Problems related to traffic, illegal activities, family feuds, financial frauds, graveyards, and public infrastructure facilities such as roads, drainages, street lights, police service, education and others were heard. Officials were instructed to solve the problems immediately.Deputy commissioner Nitesh Patil said that the SP had responded to 790 phone calls in the last 13 phone-in programmes. On the day, 63 calls were attended to. “We have recorded all the serious grievances of the people. We will solve the issues. This phone-inm programme helps the administration understand district issues and implement programmes meant for people,” he said.“We have noticed that among the 1,227 villages spread over 506 gram panchayats of the district, 400 villages did not have burial grounds earlier. All villages have graveyards now. Action had been taken to provide forest land for the cemetery,” he added.
