HUBBALLI: There is a need for explaining more about Chatrapati Shivaji, said Chitta Prakashanand Swami of Arsha Vidyakendra, Belagavi.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a bronze statue of Shivaji, he said: “It’s unfortunate that not much is explained about Shivaji Maharaj in textbooks these days.”
He also urged Marathis to learn other languages too.

MLC Srinivas Mane said Shivaji did not restrict himself and tried to uplift all communities.
The 12-ft statue, weighing 3 tonnes, was made in Vijayawada. It cost Rs 20 lakh.
Maratha Bharathi Math Trust president Sunil Dalavi, Prabhakar Pawar, Ramachandra Jadhav, Ram Shindhe, Arun Jadhav, Amrut Jadhav, Narayan Rao Jadhav, Bheema Rao Jadhav, Sambhaji Dalavi, Murali Bille, Arun Shirke and Prabhakar Bille were present on the occasion.
