Ballari police book 18 IPL betting cases in two months
Ballari: Ballari police registered 18 IPL betting cases during March and April this year, arresting 41 accused and seizing Rs 59,860 in cash along with 17 mobile phones worth Rs 84,700, according to a press release issued on Saturday.Police said 29 gambling cases were registered during the two-month period, in which 244 accused were booked and Rs 4,06,640 was seized.In 29 matka-related cases, police booked 54 accused and seized Rs 20,43,610.In connection with illegal sand transportation, 17 cases were registered against 38 accused persons. Police seized Rs 96,600 and confiscated 80 metric tonnes of sand.Police also released details of major criminal cases reported in the district on May 8.In one case registered at APMC police station, three persons were booked under attempted murder charges. Police said Vamshikrishna, Uday and Rangaswamy were arrested and remanded to judicial custody in connection with an assault reported at the APMC market area in Ballari city on May 7.In another case registered at Ballari Rural police station, police booked 36 persons under various sections of the BNS and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The case pertains to an alleged assault and abuse incident reported on May 8 at Kare Mori village in Kolagallu hobli of Ballari taluk, where two individuals were allegedly attacked by a group.Similarly, a kidnapping case was registered at Gandhinagar police station after a 17-year-old boy allegedly went missing following an abduction by unidentified persons.An attempted murder case was also registered at Kurugodu police station. The complaint stated that Shameena Banu of Virapur village in Ballari district was allegedly assaulted by her husband, Dadawali, and his relatives with an intention to kill her.
