Dharwad: The humourous session ‘Prasangagalu’ (interesting episodes) at the
Former director of All India Radio C U Bellakki, former MP I G Sanadi, writers Swamirao Kulkarni and Sumangala recalled their encounters with Da Raa Bendre, Ishwar Sanakal, Devaraj Urs and Rajiv Taranath passionately and narrated the interesting incidents.
Ramesh and B Jayashree were at their best when they sang “Gajavadana Herambha”, the song that is rendered by professional drama company artistes before the commencement of a show.

The panelists also expressed their concern over musical instruments dominating songs and pushing the song to the background. Only in Hindustani music, which is popular in north Karnataka, the singer uses only two instruments — harmonium and table — and thus the composition is rendered meaningfully, they observed.

deliberated on “Poetry and Music”. Kanavi felt that music is the means to carry the soul of poetry to people and touch their hearts. He said the singers should know what the poet wants to convey in the poem and render it suitably.
