DAVANAGERE: Dr A B Singh, secretary of Indian Aerobiological Society (IAS), New Delhi called on budding scientists to work for the betterment of society by undertaking relevant research work in the field of allergic pollen grains, therapeutics, diagnosis amd medicine. He was delivering the valedictory address of the 16th national, 3-day conference on aerobiology-2010 at BIET campus here on Sunday evening.
"There is a great threat posing the environment and ecology these days in the guise of rapid development, thus, there is a greater role to be played by the aerobiologists in providing inputs with respect to the causes of several air-borne diseases.
P H GREGORY YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD GIVEN AWAY:
Mohture V M , an aerobiologist has been honoured with the P H Gregory young scientist award after having his research work being adjudged as the best under the age of 35 years.
Santhi Mathias and Himadri Chakravarthy were given second and third positions on the occasion. Thirteen young aerobiologists presented their findings.
Bapuji Educational association members Kasala S Vittal, A S Veeranna, R Ramanand and A C Jayanna were also honoured by the Indian Aerobiological Society on the occasion. BIET principal Prof B T Achyutha, director Prof Y Vrushabendrappa, organising secretaries Prof B E Rangaswamy and S Manjappa were present. More than 250 delegates hailing from 15 states of India and three persons from abroad attended the event. It was declared to hold the 17th aerobiological national conference at Pune next year.
