ABVP alleges cash-for-pass scam at VSKU

Ballari: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has alleged a 'cash-for-pass' racket at Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University (VSKU), claiming students who have failed their examinations are being pushed to be passed after they pay around Rs 6,000 per subject.The organisation, which is protesting outside the university, has submitted a memorandum to university authorities seeking a thorough investigation into the allegations on Thursday. ABVP district convener K Dileep alleged that several students have manged to secure pass percentage by paying the demanded amount. The student body claimed the allegations surfaced close on the heels of a fake convocation certificate scam and accused university staff of manipulating examination results in exchange for money.Claiming the practice has continued for several years, ABVP named staff members Riyaz, Venkatesh Vanadurg, Yallalinga, Chandramohan and Umesh, alleging their involvement in the racket. It also claimed to possess an audio recording in which some staff members allegedly demand money from students. The ABVP also alleged that examination section officials continue to assign exam duties to those accused of irregularities.Responding to the allegations, vice-chancellor M Muniraju said a comprehensive inquiry would be conducted and assured students that there was no need for concern.
