When a team of doctors, including neurologists and paediatricians, examined her, they found she was no longer alive.
The body was shifted to the mortuary and the couple was asked to register a medico-legal case at the police outpost. After doing it, the couple vanished. The case was transferred to Gokul Road Police as they gave their residential address as Gokul village. Gokul Road inspector Dileep Nimbalkar told TOI: “We searched the entire village after getting an MLC report but we didn’t find anything that day.”
He added, “On Wednesday, we scanned footage of CCTV cameras in the hospital and found the clips in which the duo is seen entering corridors of the hospital. We took screenshots of their faces and circulated them on social media.”
“A man called Satish Kamkar came to the station claiming the woman in the photograph was his younger sister Pooja who stays in Belagavi. For the past 20 days, she had been missing from her house in Belagavi and her in-laws and family members had been searching for her. Her brother said she left her husband’s house in Belagavi with their two daughters,”he added.
Nimbalkar said Satish said the man in the picture was not her husband, Raju Talukar, but couldn’t identify him. Police personnel once again went to Gokul village and found the house where Pooja and the unidentified person were staying. Locals said they had moved into the house just 10 days ago. Gokul Road police are searching for Pooja, her second daughter and the unidentified man.
