24x7 learning: Kakkera govt sch holds night classes for SSLC prep

At the Kakkera Govt High School in Shorapur taluk, the campus remained open 24 hours a day for SSLC students, with teachers conducting classes day and night to boost performance and curb mobile addiction among students.
This initiative was expected to help improve the performance of educationally backward districts, and officials from the education department appreciated the teachers' efforts.With SSLC exams approaching, the teachers of the Government High School adopted an innovative strategy to motivate students to focus on learning. The special project was titled ‘Govt School Without Closed Doors." Yadgir, which consistently ranks at the bottom in SSLC results, is striving to shed its label of being an educationally backward district. The new programme aims to strengthen ongoing efforts by improving student learning, discipline, and curriculum mastery.While regular school hours run from 9.30am to 4pm, at Kakkera Government High School, classes are conducted in the morning, afternoon, evening, and even at night. The school remains open 24 hours a day for SSLC students. Of the more than 550 students studying in Classes 8 to 10, 129 are SSLC candidates.Basaiah Swamy, a science teacher, told TOI that one teacher stays with the students at night, and food is also arranged for them. Teachers conduct lessons until 11pm, after which students sleep on the campus and wake up at 5 am to resume studying.A fixed timetable has been created for different subjects. Girl students attend classes until 6 pm and then return home, while boys stay overnight at the school. Teachers follow a duty roster for night shifts to ensure continuous academic support. This special learning arrangement has been in place for the past week, and education department officials have praised the teachers for their commitment.
