According to police sources, the accident occurred when a car travelling from Gokak towards Mudalagi collided with a mini tempo transporting grapes from Pandharpur to Bailhongal.
Two women passengers in the car and a motorcyclist, Mallappa Gurappa Bisanakopp of Mugalkhod, who was stationed by the roadside at the time, were injured in the mishap. All the injured were shifted to a hospital in Gokak for treatment.
The impact of the collision caused grapes from the mini tempo to spill across the road, drawing a crowd of passersby and disrupting traffic. Mudalagi police personnel cleared the road and restored vehicular movement.
Eyewitnesses said a local MBBS student, Deepa Patil, administered first aid to one of the injured people who was experiencing breathing difficulties, helping save the individual's life.
