Zubeen continues to inspire unity

Guwahati: Born in the serene town of Tura in neighbouring Meghalaya, Zubeen Garg spent his childhood in Sribhumi, Tamulpur in the Bodoland Territorial Region, and Jorhat.

His journey from town to town due to his father, Magistrate Mohini Mohan Borthakur’s, transfers helped Zubeen connect with people, learn things, acquire knowledge, and widen his perspective.

Zubeen spoke throughout his life about rising above the concepts of caste, community, religion, and geographical boundaries.

His powerful dialogue, “Mur Kunu Jati Nai, Mur Kunu Dharma Nai, Mur Kunu Bhogowan Nai, Moi Mukta, Moi Kanchanjangha” (I belong to no caste, no religion, I have no God, I am free, I am Kanchenjunga), in his film ‘Kanchanjangha: Rise’, expresses his belief in transcending social divisions. This scene has now gone viral on social media, with netizens unanimously saying they want an Assam without any division in society, which was a dream of their hero.
