Youth walks with earphones, run over by train in Dhubri town
Dhubri: A youth died after he was hit by a Guwahati-bound speeding train near the Binpatty area in Dhubri town at 7.30am on Wednesday.
The youth, identified as Khokan Das, is a resident of Bahadurtary Ward No 11 in Dhubri.
A resident of Binpatty area, Jadu Bin, told TOI that the youth was walking on the railway track with headphones in his ears and couldn’t hear the sound of the train which was coming from behind.
“The driver of the Guwahati-bound passenger train coming from Dhubri station repeatedly blew the horn as there was an unmanned level crossing ahead at Jhagrarpar,” Bin said.
Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.
