Young artists excel at TOI competition

Winners of the painting competition titled 'Paint your Planet' organized by The Times of India in association with Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), the State Bank of India and Star Cement, were handed over prizes.

GUWAHATI: Winners of the painting competition titled 'Paint your Planet' organized by The Times of India in association with Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), the State Bank of India and Star Cement, were handed over prizes at a programme at Hotel Gateway Grandeur here on Saturday.
The prizes were given away by renowned artist and secretary of Gauhati Artist Guild Kishore Das.

The competition was held in five groups based on age group. There were three winners from each category and three 'special appreciation' prizes for the contestants.
While giving away the awards, Das said, "It is very tough to judge a children's painting competition. All the paintings were very good. It is only through painting that awareness can be created among the people."
He said all the paintings were judged on the basis of their creativity shown by the students and their level of imagination regarding the environment.
In category 1, Syed Labeeb Zubeir won the first prize, Gauri Goswami won the second prize and Rajnandini Kalita was adjusged third.
In category 2, the theme was, 'Keep your city clean' and the winners were Devika Sarma of Modern Senior Secondary School, Pratiksha Konwar of Guwahati Public School and Drup Deka of Maharishi Vidya Mandir-1.
Winners of Category 3 are Tibeni Tanya Das, Angana Bhagabati and Barasha Das.
In category 4, the winners are K Sandeep Singh, Jyotismita Sarma and Krishnabh Thengal. In category 5, the theme was, 'Environment and future' and Shivam Patowary, Chandan Saha and Masuma Farhana Ullah were adjudged the winners.

A special award was given to Sainik School Goalpara for best overall school. Award for best managed school was given away to GEMS NPS International School. The award for school with highest winners was given away to Maria's Public School and award for school with maximum participation was given away to South Point School.
The competition was supported by Hotel Gateway Grandeur with Ramdhenu and 92.7 Big FM as media partners, Annapurna Fundaaz as beverage partner and Leo Advertising as outdoor partner.
