In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Cachar police seized three lakh Yaba tablets, valued at approximately Rs 90 crore, in Dholakhal, Dholai. Two individuals, identified as Samuel Lhungdim and Andy Kuki from Manipur, were arrested for smuggling the contraband from Churachandpur.

Silchar: In one of the largest drug haul in recent times, Cachar police on Tuesday seized three lakh Yaba tablets worth approximately Rs 90 crore and arrested two individuals at Dholakhal in Dholai.According to SP (Cachar) Numal Mahatta, based on a specific tip-off, a pick-up vehicle was intercepted and searched, leading to the discovery of 30 black polythene packets containing the contraband. The packets were found hidden in secret chambers built inside the vehicle.The arrested individuals have been identified as Samuel Lhungdim (27) and Andy Kuki (27), both residents of Lamka in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. Mahatta said initial investigation had revealed that the consignment was being smuggled from Churachandpur. The vehicle used for the transport has also been seized.CM Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the operation in a social media post. Further investigation is underway.
